Product Marketing Manager

Sol•San Mateo, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Sol is hiring its first marketer to clarify and prove how its agentic, AI-native HR system differs from traditional HRIS platforms and other products adding AI to legacy systems. The role will make that distinction clear to HR, Finance, and IT leaders who buy core HR systems, and shape the company’s public story as its first customers go live in early 2027 and broader selling begins. The position works closely with Sol’s founders and product team and is a hands-on craft role: the Product Marketing Manager writes copy, builds decks, and drafts web pages and other core assets directly, using AI for research, drafting, and workflows while owning all final content. The role also brings a point of view on AI adoption and how rethinking work differs from adding AI to existing processes. The position is based in San Mateo or San Francisco, California; Sol is currently in San Mateo and plans to move to San Francisco in 2027.

Requirements

  • Product marketing experience in enterprise B2B software; ideally selling to HR and Finance buyers through long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles.
  • Understand what CHROs/CPOs are accountable for, what CFOs need to see before signing, and how conversations with these buyers differ.
  • Experience building positioning from scratch or moving a product into a new category.
  • Excellent writing skills and willingness to draft content directly.
  • Ability to recognize and prevent generic or AI-sounding copy from being published.
  • Ability to write effectively for distinct formats, including web pages, slides, and data sheets.
  • Strong visual taste and ability to produce a polished deck independently without a designer.
  • Use AI every day for research, first drafts, and workflows, and have built agents and workflows with it.
  • A clear point of view on how companies are adopting AI beyond bolt-on features.
  • Ability to make complex products understandable without making them generic and to be credible with senior buyers.
  • Comfort working as the first marketer without a team or established playbook.

  • Experience in HRIS or HR technology.
  • Experience at an AI-native company.

  • Create sales enablement materials, including the demo narrative, first-call deck, objection handling, competitive materials, and Finance business case.
  • Plan Sol’s go-to-market launch as its first customers go live in early 2027 and broader selling begins.
  • Develop customer proof by turning design partners and early customers into references, case studies, and trusted buyer stories.
  • Work with the founders on Sol’s point of view about AI and the future of HR, and bring that perspective to market.
  • Create core assets directly, including website copy, the first-call deck, and data sheets, collaborating with designers to improve them.
  • Join customer and prospect calls, track the competitive landscape, and feed insights into product and pricing decisions.
