Product Marketing Manager

Sol•San Mateo, CA
•$200,000 - $250,000

About The Position

Sol is hiring its first marketer to make its agentic, AI-native HR system’s differentiation clear and credible to HR, Finance, and IT leaders who buy core HR systems. The Product Marketing Manager will define Sol’s positioning and messaging, equip sales, lead the market launch as initial customers go live in early 2027, build customer proof, and shape the company’s public perspective on AI and the future of HR. This is a hands-on craft role. The manager will personally write and build core marketing assets—including website copy, decks, and data sheets—and own the quality of every word and slide. They will use AI in research, drafting, and workflows, while applying their own judgment and point of view. The role works closely with founders, product, sales, customers, and designers, and may expand into demand generation, brand, events, or communications as Sol grows.

Requirements

  • Product marketing experience in enterprise B2B software; experience selling to HR and Finance buyers through long, multi-stakeholder sales cycles is preferred.
  • Understanding of CHRO/CPO accountabilities, what CFOs need to evaluate before signing, and how those buyer conversations differ.
  • Experience building positioning from scratch or moving a product into a new category.
  • Excellent writing skills and willingness to draft copy personally, with the judgment to distinguish effective web, slide, and data-sheet writing and reject copy that sounds AI-generated.
  • Strong visual taste and ability to produce a polished deck without a designer.
  • Regular use of AI for research, first drafts, and workflows, including experience building personal agents and workflows.
  • A clear point of view on company adoption of AI beyond bolt-on features.
  • Ability to make complex products understandable without making them generic and to build credibility with senior buyers.
  • Comfort working as a company’s first marketer without a team or established playbook.

Nice To Haves

  • HRIS or HR technology experience.
  • Experience at an AI-native company.
  • Interest in growing into demand generation, brand, events, or communications as the company scales.

Responsibilities

  • Define Sol’s narrative and position it against legacy suites, all-in-one platforms, and point solutions adding AI.
  • Build and test messaging for HR leaders, HR Operations and HRIS teams, Finance, and IT and security stakeholders.
  • Own sales enablement, including the demo narrative, first-call deck, objection handling, competitive materials, and Finance business case.
  • Plan and run Sol’s go-to-market launch as initial customers go live in early 2027 and broader selling begins.
  • Develop customer proof by turning design partners and early customers into references, case studies, and credible stories.
  • Work with the founders to shape Sol’s perspective on AI and the future of HR and bring that perspective to market.
  • Personally create core assets, including website copy, the first-call deck, and data sheets, collaborating with designers to improve them.
  • Join customer and prospect calls, track competitors, and share field insights that inform product and pricing decisions.
