Product Marketing Lead

GradialSeattle, WA

About The Position

Gradial is seeking its first Product Marketing Lead to establish and lead the product marketing function. This role is responsible for defining the company's category and positioning it effectively to various stakeholders including executives, buyers, operators, analysts, and the broader market. Reporting to the Founder and Chief Growth Officer, this foundational position is ideal for an individual who has experience in an early-stage startup and has successfully scaled a category-defining business. The Product Marketing Lead will shape the overall narrative for Gradial's portfolio, encompassing core platform positioning, product launches, customer success stories, competitive analysis, and analyst relations. This role requires close collaboration with founders, product, sales, and customers to ensure a consistent and clear message across all platforms. The ideal candidate possesses strong instincts, sound judgment, and the conviction to make a new category feel inevitable.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of product marketing experience in B2B SaaS, preferably in a product-led or category-creating company.
  • Experience in an early-stage startup (under 250 employees) that scaled significantly as a category-defining business.
  • Strong track record in owning positioning, launches, competitive strategy, customer storytelling, and sales enablement.
  • Exceptional writing and storytelling skills to create influential narratives for buyers, operators, analysts, and internal teams.
  • Ability to translate complex product capabilities into clear market value for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Experience collaborating with founders, product teams, and go-to-market teams in fast-paced, unstructured environments.
  • High ownership mindset with comfort operating as a builder and individual contributor while establishing a new function.
  • Strong customer instinct and a habit of staying close to users, buyer pain points, objections, and product truth.
  • Confidence and judgment to make strategic messaging decisions and uphold them as the company grows.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience at a high-performing startup that scaled meaningfully from early stage to broad market adoption.
  • Familiarity with AI-native products, AI-leaning developer tools, or modern MarTech platforms.
  • Experience introducing a new category or making new market language stick in a competitive space.

Responsibilities

  • Define and defend Gradial’s positioning across the portfolio, ensuring a consistent story on the homepage, pitches, launches, and market narrative.
  • Name and shape the category through sharp messaging, proprietary research, and memorable language.
  • Own product and company messaging for executives, buyers, operators, and technical stakeholders across all major channels.
  • Lead product launches as significant narrative moments, developing the storyline, proof points, founder content, customer voice, and go-to-market coordination.
  • Build competitive positioning to win deals against adjacent platforms, incumbents, and agency alternatives.
  • Partner closely with Sales to enhance differentiation, improve objection handling, and increase win rates.
  • Transform customer wins into category-defining stories by creating a repeatable engine for case studies, talks, videos, PR, and co-marketing.
  • Engage frequently with customers and power users to refine messaging, identify proof points, and ensure the story is grounded in reality.
  • Manage analyst relations with top industry firms to shape market understanding of the category and Gradial's position.
