About The Position

The Product Manager – Transportation Future Products is an important leader within the Transportation team, supporting product management and execution of the overall strategy for lithium solutions, chargers, and connected solutions, including sensors and data analytics. This includes features in both lead-acid and lithium, as well as future chemistries. This position is primarily focused on the U.S. and North American markets, with collaboration across other regions as needed. The role supports execution of initiatives aligned to the transportation product roadmap and product vision, while contributing insights and recommendations to roadmap development in close partnership with engineering and other lines of business. Product Managers at EnerSys are collaborative partners within the business units. They work cross-functionally to identify product and project needs, focusing on the technical, business case, and strategic rationale behind initiatives, while managing the lifecycle performance of assigned products. This role leverages technical expertise to contribute to roadmap planning, define product requirements, conduct market research, and support prioritization decisions. The position supports transportation, marine, and specialty applications, leveraging the broader capabilities of EnerSys as a global energy systems leader.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field required.
  • Demonstrated technical and business acumen with the ability to understand broader market and strategic considerations.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience in an engineering, technical, or product management function.
  • Experience leading projects or influencing cross-functional teams; prior supervisory experience is a plus but not required.
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across engineering, sales, finance, and other cross-functional teams.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders across varying levels of the organization.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred 2+ years of experience in a product management or related role.
  • Preferred 4+ years of experience in automotive engineering or automotive product management.
  • Preferred 4+ years of experience in battery systems, with a focus on lithium technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and recommend future product opportunities aligned with the approved transportation product strategy within the lithium, charger, and connected solutions space for transportation, commercial vehicle, and marine markets in North America, applying to both lead-acid and lithium chemistries.
  • Serve as a subject matter resource for assigned product lines, supporting the development and clarification of product requirements in partnership with cross-functional teams.
  • Act as a key and go-to product expert within the business unit to contribute to roadmaps development and maintain documentation (PRDs, business cases) for assigned products.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering and other teams to scope projects, gather input on emerging technologies, support prioritization discussions, and help coordinate resource requirements and project kickoff activities.
  • Follow products through their entire lifecycle and identifying any improvements, optimizations, application changes, ongoing product or process changes.
  • Key collaborate and leadership with customers and OEMs, engaging in future requirements and collaborations with them as a KEY partner.
  • Maintain relationships with technical and product contacts.
  • Review RFIs and RFQs for lithium, chargers, and sensor solutions used within the transportation industry and provide feedback on solutions and capabilities that will support the customer within the EnerSys strategic transportation roadmap.
  • Support fleets, customers, and internal partners with technical support and leadership as needed.
  • Communication up and around the organization.
  • Collaborate with the engineering team and technology “centers of excellence” for our various products, and other business units to align on solutions that may be leveraged across multiple applications.
  • Participate in industry trade shows, seminars, meetings and sales calls to stay abreast of current and emerging customer and market trends.
  • Inclusive of attending and representing EnerSys at trade associations and technical conferences.
