Product Manager/Product Owner

THE JAY GROUP INC•West Hempfield Township, PA
•Hybrid

About The Position

Jay Group, a third-party logistics provider offering ecommerce order fulfillment to high-growth start-ups and Fortune 500 companies, is seeking a Product Manager/Product Owner to lead product for a dedicated engineering team. This hybrid role owns both product direction and execution: setting direction for the team's area and translating it into a prioritized, development-ready backlog. The PM/PO is the team's single product voice from customer discovery through sprint acceptance and release. Engineering teams use AI-driven development, including AI coding assistants and agents to help write, test and review code. The role therefore requires clear product intent that engineers and AI tools can act on, using AI to accelerate discovery and analysis, and maintaining a high bar for products delivered to customers and warehouse operations. The role is based at Jay Group's corporate headquarters in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and requires some time in the office.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience as a Product Owner, Product Manager or in a combined PM/PO role.
  • Proven ability to own a product area end to end, from strategy and roadmap through backlog and delivery.
  • Strong experience writing detailed product backlog items and acceptance criteria, and managing and prioritizing a backlog.
  • Hands-on experience in a high-functioning Agile/Scrum environment.
  • Hands-on use of AI tools, such as generative AI assistants, in product work, and comfort working with engineering teams that use AI coding tools.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to self-manage, work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Passion for solving business problems through technology.
  • Proactive, self-motivated work style.
  • Willingness to submit to a background check.
  • Ability to work legally in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in logistics, fulfillment or warehouse management systems (WMS).
  • Experience with AI-assisted or agentic software development workflows, or building AI features into products.
  • Familiarity with the Atlassian product suite, including Jira and Confluence.

Responsibilities

  • Own the product vision and roadmap for the team's area, aligned with company strategy, department priorities and market needs.
  • Interview customers and internal stakeholders—including operations, client services and sales—to understand business goals and translate them into software requirements.
  • Conduct market and competitive research to identify opportunities to differentiate Jay Group offerings or close competitive gaps.
  • Use AI tools to synthesize interview notes, analyze usage and operational data, and draft options for evaluation.
  • Define success measures for initiatives and track whether delivered features achieve them.
  • Own and manage the team's product backlog, ensuring items are clearly defined, prioritized and ready for development.
  • Write product backlog items with explicit acceptance criteria, business rules and edge cases that engineers and AI development tools can execute with minimal back-and-forth.
  • Prioritize work based on business value, customer impact, cost and technical constraints, balancing scope, schedule and capacity.
  • Lead backlog grooming and refinement, and partner with engineering in sprint planning and execution.
  • Serve as the scrum team's primary point of contact, providing direction, clarifications and acceptance decisions.
  • Validate completed work against acceptance criteria and intended outcomes before accepting it.
  • Partner with engineering on AI-accelerated delivery by breaking work into smaller increments and using rapid prototypes to validate ideas.
  • Use AI-generated prototypes, specifications and test scenarios to shorten feedback loops with customers and stakeholders.
  • Review AI-generated artifacts for accuracy, completeness and business fit, while keeping a human accountable for product decisions.
  • Help identify opportunities to incorporate AI into products and internal workflows for clients and warehouse operations.
  • Plan and manage releases in coordination with engineering, operations and client-facing teams.
  • Communicate roadmap, progress and tradeoffs to leadership and stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with other PMs/POs across the department to manage cross-team dependencies and align priorities.
