About The Position

Booking.com is seeking a full-time Product Manager BDX IAM for its Washington, DC office. This role is within the Data and Machine Learning Platform, specifically on the Data Foundations team, which builds foundational data & AI capabilities such as Lineage, Discovery, Storage, IAM, Compute, and Privacy. These capabilities power enterprise-wide needs across OLTP and OLAP platforms and serve the central B.com enterprise data & AI platform. The Product Manager will set the product strategy, evolution, and adoption of the access management platform for Booking.com’s 100 PB+ multi-modal data & AI platform, integrating with governance tooling like the enterprise policy platform. The goal is to build enterprise-wide Data & AI governance capabilities that enable teams to use data/AI safely and efficiently. This is a hands-on technical platform PM role requiring translation of complex governance requirements into shipped product outcomes, validation through prototyping/experiments, and ensuring the product becomes the default path for user workflows. The IAM platform product team provides identity and access management for multi-modal analytical data, ensuring appropriate access for people and services while minimizing friction. They operate the control plane for human and service access, automating provisioning across Snowflake and S3, enforcing policies, and providing guardrails for data governance and compliance programs (SOx, DMA, privacy regulations). The role involves balancing value for data & AI practitioners and compliance/control/legal functions, with a focus on identifying opportunities, understanding compliance challenges, and leveraging AI to bridge gaps. Familiarity with distributed policy enforcement, access management systems, and data capture/processing across enterprise systems is required.

Requirements

  • 6–8 years in Technical Product Management (or equivalent), ideally with 3+ years, building data & AI governance products for a combination of tech and non-tech personas.
  • Experienced with distributed data & AI Platforms, including wide and deep understanding of various distributed data processing and AI processing capabilities.
  • Familiar with data processing in production, at scale. Understanding of batch and stream processing, as well as native cloud solutions powering such pathways.
  • Hands-on experience with distributed data & AI systems and understanding of how various data and AI personas across businesses engage with such platforms to consume and produce multi-modal data for analytical and ML/AI use cases.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive adoption: can define KPIs, instrument funnels (conversion, drop off / churn), and iterate based on evidence.
  • Strong technical fluency: comfortable with distributed data & AI systems, APIs, integration patterns, typical Data & MLOps journeys, to be able to make informed tradeoffs decisions, feeding product strategy and execution.
  • Experience partnering deeply with engineering and architecture; can write crisp requirements and make tradeoffs.
  • Working knowledge of data governance concepts applicable to distributed and open data & AI systems (e.g., industry best practices around sensitive data handling, access controls, retention/DSR fundamentals).

  • Balance value elements for both user segments - the data & AI practitioners of the business as well as the compliance / control / legal functions.
  • Identify opportunities for your product(s), be deeply passionate about the compliance challenges around multi-modal data processing the enterprise and our users face today, understand how AI systems available at our disposal today can help bridge a lot of the these gaps, delighting our platform users by addressing the most pressing access issues - across the disparate multi-modal data processing pathways enterprise wide.
  • Own PMF for a platform area: define the problem, target personas, and success metrics; validate value via prototypes/experiments.
  • Build and maintain an outcomes-driven roadmap aligned to industry best practices and internal constraints.
