About The Position

The Product Line Manager will exhibit a strong understanding of information flow and product flow within a manufacturing environment. In addition to having a problem solving, go getter personality, the ideal candidate must be able to identify cost saving opportunities with respect to the operation and personnel. The Product Line Manager will oversee daily activities of the product line, including production and shipping performance, and manage production schedules to meet customer requirements, cost and quality goals. This role involves interfacing with quality, supply chain, HR and other disciplines to achieve goals, facilitating team communication and conflict resolution, and developing, recommending, and implementing initiatives to improve production metrics and financial performance. The Product Line Manager will lead the production line function by collaboratively overseeing all other aspects of the production environment including: safety culture, quality, developing subordinates, maintenance, interfacing with customers, and financial results. This role also involves evaluating manufacturing processes, improving manufacturing efficiency, assuring product and process quality, and providing manufacturing decision-making information. The Product Line Manager will keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services, oversee design and development projects while ensuring training of technicians, and oversee installation to ensure tools and equipment are installed and functioning according to the needs of the product. The role requires planning, organizing, directing and running optimum day-to-day operations to meet customer expectations, increasing production, assets capacity and flexibility while minimizing unnecessary costs and maintaining current quality standards. It also involves implementing strategies in alignment with strategic initiatives, monitoring operations and triggering corrective actions, sharing a trusting relationship with the workgroup, and recruiting, managing and developing plant staff. The Product Line Manager will collect and analyze data to find places of waste and/or overtime.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree or equivalent experience
  • Proven managerial experience
  • Adequate knowledge of business and management principles (budgeting, strategic planning, financials, resource allocation and human resources)
  • Familiarity with industry standard equipment and technical expertise
  • Be knowledgeable of safety, quality, productivity, demand creation, inventory and stewardship processes
  • Strong team building, decision-making and people management skills
  • Ability to create accountability and to lead by example
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Good command of the English language
  • 6+ years of manufacturing experience

Responsibilities

  • Oversees daily activities of the product line, including production and shipping performance.

  • Evaluates manufacturing processes by designing and conducting research programs; applying knowledge of product design, fabrication, assembly; conferring with equipment vendors; soliciting observations from operators.
  • Improves manufacturing efficiency by analyzing and planning work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Assures product and process quality by testing finished product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes.
  • Provides manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs; reviewing production schedules; estimating future requirements.
  • Keeps equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Oversees design and development projects while ensuring training of technicians.
  • Oversees installation to ensure tools and equipment are installed and functioning according to the needs of the product.
