About The Position

Join our team as a Product Handler at Eastman Chemical Company! In this role, you will be a key member of our team contributing to a culture of safety and efficiency. We are looking for dependable individuals who can load railcars, monitor and operate product final storage and loading equipment, and grow into a manufacturing operator apprentice role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Basic computer literacy with Microsoft Office
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Complete WorkKeys assessments no later than 30 days after applying with minimum required scores: Applied Math – Operator 5, Graphic Literacy – Operator 4, Workplace Documents – Operator 5.
  • WorkKeys test results must be dated within the last 5 years to be valid.
  • Successful completion of Select Assessment ® for Manufacturing administered by Talogy.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a safety-first mindset in every aspect of the job - following all safety, environmental, and company rules and policies.
  • Safely operates railcar movers, where appropriate, to spot railcars.
  • Inspects railcars for defects – notifying supervision and rejecting cars as needed to maintain product quality and safe shipment.
  • Prepares railcars for loading in accordance with established procedures.
  • Loads material into the proper railcars, obtains required samples to assess product quality, seals and prepares railcars for shipment, accurately completes shipping documentation – forwarding paperwork to the appropriate personnel.
  • Inspects facilities and equipment for potential safety hazards and operational problems and reports findings to supervision.
  • Troubleshoots equipment issues and works with maintenance personnel when major repairs or adjustments are required.
  • Following onboarding, may serve as an emergency response team member.
  • Understands and follows written and verbal instructions and procedures.
  • Uses computer systems to access procedures and other information, complete required training, and input and retrieve data.
  • Works assigned shifts (24-hour coverage via rotating shift schedule) and overtime as required.
  • Assists in training new product-handling employees.
