The Product Engineering: Modeling Intern will support advanced simulation of lead-acid, lithium-ion, sodium-ion, and supercapacitor technologies through structural, thermal, fluid, electrochemical, and multiphysics modeling. The intern will develop and execute finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) models to support product development, validation, performance improvement, and cost optimization. The role includes correlating simulation results with laboratory testing and supporting model validation, root cause analysis, and design optimization. The intern will contribute to digital engineering initiatives, including digital twins, simulation automation, optimization, and AI-enabled engineering workflows. They will collaborate with Product Engineering, Validation, Manufacturing, and Advanced Technology teams, apply engineering fundamentals and numerical methods to complex energy storage systems, and develop Python-based automation and data-driven approaches to improve simulation efficiency and engineering decision-making. This is a hybrid internship in the greater Milwaukee area for Summer 2027, lasting up to 40 hours per week. Interns must have a quiet workspace away from interruptions, the option to work in the office, and the ability to maintain regular virtual contact with their supervisor and team. Applicants must be authorized to work for any U.S. employer without current or future sponsorship.
