About The Position

The Industrial Engineer Intern will assist Viaflex’s engineering team in optimizing production processes and improving operational efficiency. The internship provides hands-on experience with industrial engineering principles and practices while contributing to real-world projects. The intern will work with an assigned mentor and manager, complete projects within the internship discipline, provide periodic updates, attend company-sponsored training and events, and deliver an end-of-summer presentation. The intern is also expected to demonstrate Viaflex Team Member Values and help promote the division’s quality management system in accordance with ISO standards. The role supports analysis of production workflows, production metrics, and resource utilization; identifying opportunities for improvement; supporting safety and quality assurance compliance; and creating and maintaining documentation for process improvements and engineering projects. Work is primarily in a normal office environment, with occasional entry into production areas where noise, fumes, moving machinery, and varied temperatures may be present.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED and pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field; alternatively, a bachelor’s degree in a related field and pursuing a graduate-level degree program.
Ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously without close supervision.
Problem-solving abilities and the ability to identify waste and seek creative solutions.
Ability to work with a high level of confidentiality.
Flexibility and ability to multitask.
Proficiency with computers, including Microsoft Office.
Ability to communicate effectively with team members and leadership staff.
Ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, and reach.

Responsibilities

Complete projects assigned within the internship discipline.
Attend Viaflex-sponsored training and educational seminars and participate in Viaflex-sponsored events.
Work with an assigned mentor and manager toward successful completion of the internship.
Provide periodic project updates to managers and peers.
Complete an end-of-summer internship presentation.
Demonstrate Viaflex Team Member Values and encourage teams to do the same.
Learn, understand, continuously improve, and promote the division’s quality management system in accordance with ISO standards.
Analyze current production workflows to identify areas for improvement.
Collect and analyze production metrics and resource-utilization data.
Support compliance with safety and quality assurance requirements.
Create and maintain documentation for process improvements and engineering projects.
Perform comparable duties of a similar or related nature and assist in other areas as needed.
