Product Engineer II

Klein Tools•Mansfield, TX

About The Position

A Product Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, and improving products in the tool industry, with accountability for project outcomes and on-time product development delivery. The role involves problem solving and reviewing information to evaluate and develop options for product design, sustaining activity, and project management, then implementing solutions with frequent direction. The engineer works with a manager and more experienced engineers on engineering problems and methods, and may represent the organization in supplier meetings to resolve questions and coordinate work. The position requires managing multiple low- to medium-difficulty projects, estimating and maintaining timelines within a phase-gate product development framework, coordinating action items and technical development activities, and resolving design and testing issues with support as needed. The engineer conducts feasibility studies, reviews design and development plans, cost estimates, and engineering proposals, and may liaise with internal customers and suppliers to ensure designs meet end-user needs. The role also includes preparing and presenting design and management reviews, developing PowerPoint presentations and Excel analyses, using 3D CAD and 2D drafting tools, and running basic FEA studies with mentor or manager guidance. The engineer works closely with Product Management to develop new products and customer features, keeps projects on schedule, prioritizes work in alignment with organizational goals, maintains contact with team leaders and executives, and seeks to minimize financial impacts during project implementation. International travel is required as needed.
