About The Position
Clay is seeking an early product designer to help rethink how people work with data and build software. The designer will apply design and product knowledge across Clay’s product, designing and maintaining core features and infrastructure while exploring ways to make complex workflows and data tasks more intuitive, flexible, and accessible to non-developers. The role includes designing and shipping features, conducting user research, contributing to roadmap prioritization, and prototyping new interaction patterns. As part of a small team, the designer will take ownership of initiatives and collaborate closely with teammates through open communication and feedback.
Requirements
- 8+ years of experience in a relevant role.
- Ability to identify the right problems, evaluate multiple solutions, and communicate tradeoffs through a clear design process.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills, including visual, verbal, and written communication; comfort with synchronous and asynchronous work.
- Systems-thinking ability to break down complex problems, create simple interfaces, and identify and abstract recurring product patterns.
- Ability to deliver pixel-perfect designs and encourage a high level of design care among engineering partners.
- A strong understanding of interactive, responsive software experiences rather than static screens.
- A customer-focused design approach, with ongoing attention to customer needs and whether the product delivers intuitive value.
Responsibilities
- Design and maintain core product features and infrastructure across the product.
- Collaborate with teammates, communicate openly, exchange thoughtful feedback, and learn from colleagues’ expertise.
- Take ownership of identifying important work and driving initiatives forward.
- Set up and conduct user research, synthesize findings, analyze feedback, and help prioritize the product roadmap.
- Design and prototype novel interfaces and interaction patterns that make building software more intuitive and efficient.
