Product Designer

Urban Ridge Supplies•New York, NY

About The Position

Outtake is hiring a senior product designer as its third product design hire. The designer will quickly ramp to independently own design for a product area while embedded in a product team, and lead horizontal design initiatives. Outtake has a decentralized, high-ownership organization without a traditional product manager role. The designer will partner with product engineers and product deployment leads to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, determine what to build, and shape product direction. The role focuses on novel user experience challenges, including designing how customers manage fleets of autonomous agents, decide when to intervene, and investigate threats across connected data. The designer will own experiences end to end, spanning workflows, information architecture, interactions, and visual details. They will turn open questions into user insights, design options, and prototypes; collaborate with engineers to ship and improve products; build customer relationships and feedback channels; and use research and qualitative and quantitative evidence to guide decisions. They will also develop tools and practices that help teams move faster, evolve the design system, expand AI use in design work, and contribute increasingly to design culture and horizontal initiatives as the team grows. Outtake builds an agentic AI platform to detect, monitor, and take down online impersonators. The company describes its mission as building the trust layer of the modern internet. For employees in New York, the team works in person five days a week from a Brooklyn waterfront office, with flexibility as needed.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of product design experience, ideally at early-stage or high-growth companies with end-to-end ownership of outcomes.
  • Comfort designing technically complex products, learning a domain deeply, solving unfamiliar UX problems, and making layered information clear and useful.
  • A product-minded, user-driven (not user-led) approach and genuine interest in driving product strategy alongside Product Deployment and Product Engineering.
  • Resourcefulness, speed, and judgment about when to decide carefully and when to ship and iterate.
  • Low ego and ability to give and receive feedback openly without becoming precious about work.
  • Ability to collaborate while navigating ambiguity and owning work fully without hand-holding.
  • Excellent craft across interaction, visual, and motion design.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience designing for AI, automation, or agent-based systems.
  • Experience as an early design hire who helped shape design culture from the ground up.
  • Active use of AI tools in a design workflow and ongoing experimentation with how to leverage them.
  • Experience creating and maintaining a design system.
  • Background in cybersecurity, trust and safety, or risk-related products.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with product engineers and product deployment leads to identify opportunities, challenge assumptions, and decide what is worth building.
  • Design experiences for managing fleets of autonomous agents, deciding when to intervene, and investigating threats across connected data.
  • Own the experience end to end, including workflows, information architecture, interactions, and visual details.
  • Turn open questions into well-supported user insights, concrete design options, and prototypes that align the team.
  • Find simpler solutions, make deliberate tradeoffs, and work closely with engineers to ship and improve the product.
  • Build direct customer relationships, drive design partnerships, and establish regular feedback channels.
  • Run research, test ideas, and gather qualitative and quantitative evidence to guide decisions and assess shipped work.
  • Create tools and practices that help designers, engineers, and product managers work faster and ship well-designed products consistently.
  • Evolve the design system and expand the use of AI in exploration, prototyping, and product building.
  • Take on broader ownership of design culture and horizontal design initiatives as the design team grows.
