About The Position

As a founding product designer on Cerity Partners’ newly formed Innovation Team, you will build and ship complex solutions that can scale to tens of thousands of clients. You will help make foundational decisions about user experience, product, design systems, and business strategy, with the opportunity to build products from 0 to 1 and scale them after launch. You will work directly with Will Peng, Chief Innovation Officer. The Innovation Team is Cerity Partners’ center of excellence for technology strategy and applied AI. It combines technology and professional services to develop the future of financial services, applying AI to complex areas such as wealth and investment management. The team takes a client-centered, design-led approach, partnering across the business to understand workflows and create cohesive experiences for clients, advisors, and colleagues. Its vision is to build an AI-native wealth intelligence platform and stack, encompassing harnesses, context, memory, evaluations, agents, models, workflows, data, and knowledge. As a founding designer, you will help define the firm’s design direction, standards, visual language, interaction models, and ways of working across design, product, and engineering. You will work autonomously, move quickly while maintaining rigor, and help shape products and systems in an ambiguous, entrepreneurial environment.

Requirements

At least 7 years of experience.
Financial services industry experience, with an understanding of wealth management, investment advisory, or related financial services operations.
Demonstrated experience with AI tooling, models, harnesses, and workflows.
Demonstrated ability to work in ambiguity and build 0-to-1 products from first principles rather than relying on established processes.
Expertise and experience with Figma, Claude Code, Codex, or similar tools.
Track record of broad, lasting impact on customers, colleagues, and foundational systems.
Systems thinking and ability to evaluate decisions in broader context and identify important factors.
Strong product and business intuition, with a user-first approach and ability to prioritize effectively.
Initiative, resourcefulness, and ability to move work forward independently while building trust, alignment, and influence.
Ability to balance speed and quality through rapid learning, high shipping velocity, and a hypothesis-driven approach.
Experience building and shipping AI agents and harnesses, with an interest in experimenting with emerging AI capabilities.
Comfort with code and understanding how designs are handed off and implemented using AI-native processes; writing code is not required.
Authorization to work for any employer in the United States.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end user experiences, journeys, and business goals, from 0-to-1 product development through post-launch scaling.
Partner with clients, advisors, and colleagues to identify valuable opportunities, understand needs and root problems, map workflows, test prototypes and hypotheses, and advocate for effective experiences.
Establish foundational product strategy and user experience decisions that influence business strategy, goals, differentiation, and prioritization.
Work across the applied AI stack, including harnesses, context, memory, evaluations, agents, and models, for wealth management and internal collaboration.
Define design standards and overall direction, prototype and ship to test hypotheses, establish how design collaborates with engineering and product, and create visual languages and interaction models.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams and connect feedback, workflows, and downstream implications to create coherent organizational decisions.
