About The Position

Toast is seeking a Product Designer with a deep passion for crafting exceptional user experiences and solving complex systems challenges across Voice AI experiences at Toast. The role involves partnering closely with product, engineering, and research to understand users and translate that understanding into thoughtful, intuitive product experiences. The designer will create end-to-end workflows across responsive web and native mobile, delivering wireframes, flows, prototypes, and design specs. This position will focus on simplifying complex operator workflows for managing menus, locations, and configurations, and driving the evolution of AI-driven tools, especially voice, to help operators make better, faster decisions. The role also requires applying systems thinking to evolve platform-level experiences that leverage AI across multiple product lines, partnering with the Design System team for consistency, participating in design critiques, supporting research activities, collaborating with international teams, and advocating for customer-centered design.

Requirements

Experience designing holistic, end-to-end product experiences that leverage AI capabilities —comfortable moving from broad journeys to detailed interactions.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, proactively seeking clarity and adapting as responsibilities evolve.
Designing at a systems level with comfort contributing to and shaping design systems, identifying reusable patterns, influencing standards, and collaborating with partners to balance product-specific needs with platform-wide scalability.
Fluency in user-centered design methods and enough research literacy to ground design decisions in insights and data.
Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills; able to build trust and influence partners across disciplines.
Enduring sense of curiosity with a desire to continuously learn and evolve.
Advanced proficiency in Figma and other prototyping or design collaboration tools.
Passion for creating intuitive, delightful experiences that feel native across platforms and regions.

Responsibilities

Partner closely with product, engineering, and research to deeply understand our users and translate that understanding into thoughtful, intuitive product experiences.
Design end-to-end workflows across responsive web and native mobile, delivering clear wireframes, flows, prototypes, and design specs that guide product development.
Simplify complex, scaled operator workflows, helping restaurants manage menus, locations, and configurations with clarity and consistency.
Help drive the evolution of AI-driven tools, especially voice, that help operators make better, faster decisions.
Apply systems thinking to evolve platform-level experiences that leverage AI (e.g. operations, multi-location management, menu management ) that scale coherently across multiple product lines
Partner closely with the Design System team to ensure consistency and long-term extensibility.
Participate in design critiques and reviews, giving and receiving feedback that strengthens the quality of the work.
Support qualitative and quantitative research activities, translating insights into actionable product improvements.
Collaborate with localization and international teams to ensure designs are culturally appropriate and adaptable across different languages and regions.
Advocate for customer-centered design, elevating user needs and helping maintain a high bar of craft across the team.
