Engine has been recognized for its growth and as a great place to work. The Design team at Engine is composed of over 30 individuals focused on product vision and fostering a unique design culture. As the Product Design Director for FinTech, you will be instrumental in shaping the future of how businesses manage spend, make payments, and gain value through rewards. You will lead the team responsible for developing tools for direct billing, insights, credit cards, and rewards, ensuring these experiences are fast, clear, and trustworthy. This role involves close collaboration across the company to maintain design's central role in a rapidly evolving financial ecosystem. Designers at Engine are part of a core 'Big 4' team (product, design, engineering, data) that drives the roadmap and vision for their respective areas, with the opportunity to shape strategy and deliver impactful features.

Requirements

• Mastery of the full product lifecycle, from shaping product strategy and guiding discovery to driving concepts and build-ready execution.
• Strong design craft across visual, interaction, and UX, with a focus on clarity, utility, delight, and people leadership in hiring, coaching, and elevating the team’s bar.
• Proven ability to align and influence PMs, engineers, data, and executives.
• Fluency in Figma, design systems, and emerging tools like Pencil / Cursor.
• Clear, compelling storytelling, able to communicate the strategic why, not just the design.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design vision for spend management, billing, insights, credit cards, and rewards at Engine, elevating them into seamless, high-trust experiences.
• Mentor and inspire a talented team of 4-6 product designers while staying hands-on when the work needs your craft.
• Set a high bar for clarity, usability, and polish across the entire fintech product suite.
• Turn user needs and financial insights into intuitive flows that help customers stay in control and unlock meaningful value.
• Push the boundaries of what’s possible using AI-powered tooling including MCPs, Figma Make, Cursor, and other emerging systems that amplify speed and quality.
