About The Position

The Produce Lead provides direction related to department operations, processes, and conditions, and plans, guides, and empowers team members in day-to-day work. The role models an exceptional customer experience and helps achieve department goals by influencing peers and supporting a winning strategy. The Produce Lead coordinates daily work, coaches and trains team members, supports department scheduling, and helps maintain customer service, sales, profitability, product freshness, food safety, and Meijer standards. The role may also involve register operation, cash handling, powered equipment, period-end inventories, and acting as a lead in other store departments. Other duties may be assigned or required.

Responsibilities

Engage peers to provide customers with the best possible shopping experience, including an exceptional checkout experience.
Communicate with team members and assign daily work tasks.
Mentor and coach team members to exceed customer service and sales goals, maintain the area to Meijer standards, and complete required training.
Support training new team members and cross-training high-potential talent; provide peer coaching on job responsibilities and standards to improve productivity.
Work with leadership on department schedule writing, focusing on team-member engagement, customer service, store sales, and profitability.
Monitor execution of rotation and dating policies to ensure product freshness.
Guide the team in complying with food safety standards and regulations and working safely in alignment with 200% accountability.
Lead team members in completing ordering, receiving, stocking, pricing, and product displays, where applicable.
Help create an environment that supports Meijer culture, including valuing diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Operate a register and handle cash when needed.
Operate powered equipment, where applicable.
Participate in period-end inventories, where applicable, to help achieve goals.
Act in a Lead capacity in other departments throughout the store when required.
Perform other duties as assigned or required.
