About The Position

The Produce Clerk helps maintain a stocked, fresh, and inviting produce department while providing friendly customer service. The role includes keeping merchandise fresh and available, receiving and preparing products, maintaining a clean and safe work area, and supporting customers and coworkers. Training is provided; extensive experience is not needed. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Employment is contingent upon successful completion of a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Commitment to Hy-Vee's mission and a genuine passion for helping customers.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully and with attention to detail.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Ability to communicate clearly with customers and coworkers and contribute positively to a team.
Ability to learn and apply sanitation, food safety, and department procedures.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent experience is accepted.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training is provided.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, assist with their needs, and provide helpful service.
Check merchandise for freshness and appearance; replenish and rotate products to maintain quality.
Ensure adequate product supplies are available, and develop or follow production lists while anticipating daily department needs.
Check in deliveries, put products away, and review invoices as needed.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products as necessary.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe.
Remove trash promptly and assist with general department upkeep.
Order products and supplies and price products for customers as needed.
Answer customer calls promptly and provide friendly, helpful service.
Follow the company dress code, hygiene standards, and department and company guidelines.
Assist with other tasks and special projects as needed.
