About The Position

Hy-Vee is seeking a Produce Clerk to help keep the produce department stocked, fresh, clean, and inviting while providing friendly customer service. The role includes reviewing merchandise for freshness, replenishing and rotating products, preparing and finishing products as needed, checking in deliveries, and assisting customers. Training is provided. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Employment is contingent upon successfully completing a pre-employment drug screen.

Requirements

Must be at least 18 years old.
Commitment to Hy-Vee’s mission and a genuine passion for helping customers.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully and with attention to detail.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear communication with customers and coworkers and a positive contribution to the team.
Ability to learn and apply sanitation, food safety, and department procedures.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent experience is accepted.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training is provided.
Frequently stand and walk throughout a shift in sales, food service, or delivery areas.
Perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending associated with order fulfillment, POS transactions, and cleaning and sanitation duties.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, assist with their needs, and provide friendly, helpful service.
Review merchandise for freshness and appearance; replenish and rotate products to maintain quality standards.
Ensure adequate product supply, develop or follow a production list, and anticipate daily department needs.
Check in products, put products away, and review invoices as needed.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products as necessary.
Follow proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe.
Remove trash promptly and assist with general department upkeep.
Order products and supplies and price products as needed.
Answer the phone promptly and provide helpful service to callers.
Follow Hy-Vee’s dress code, hygiene standards, and department and company guidelines.
Assist with other tasks and special projects as needed.
