About The Position

The Produce Clerk helps create a positive first impression for customers by keeping the produce department stocked, fresh, and inviting while providing friendly customer service. The role includes maintaining product quality and availability, supporting daily department operations, and keeping the work area clean and safe. Training is provided, and extensive experience is not required.

Requirements

Commitment to Hy-Vee's mission and a genuine passion for helping customers.
Ability to follow written and verbal instructions carefully and with attention to detail.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear communication with customers and coworkers and a positive team attitude.
Ability to learn and apply sanitation, food safety, and department procedures.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent experience is accepted.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training is provided.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, assist with their needs, and provide friendly, helpful service.
Check merchandise freshness and appearance; replenish and rotate products to maintain quality.
Ensure adequate product supply, develop or follow production lists, and anticipate daily department needs.
Check in deliveries, put products away, and review invoices as needed.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products as necessary.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe.
Remove trash promptly and assist with general department upkeep.
Order products and supplies and price products as needed.
Answer customer calls promptly and provide helpful service.
Follow the dress code, hygiene standards, and department and company guidelines.
Assist with other tasks and special projects as needed.
