About The Position

The Produce Clerk sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. The role maintains the department’s overall environment, assists Members with product knowledge and customer service, and ensures produce meets or exceeds company quality standards.

The clerk supports club policies, procedures, and compliance; helps maintain a safe and positive environment; and works collaboratively to meet daily GOLD Member and club standards. Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job. The position may also involve performing other duties or working in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; lifting or moving heavier or awkward objects over 50 pounds may be required with assistance.
• Frequent movement on hard surfaces and positioning to examine or scan merchandise, including bending, climbing, crawling, handling, pulling, reaching, and stooping.

Responsibilities

• Assist Members in the produce department by answering questions, recommending products and safe handling tips, and helping Members find products throughout the club.
• Inspect, rotate, and store produce upon delivery, ensuring received items meet or exceed company produce standards.
• Rotate produce on the sales floor to maintain freshness and variety; keep cases and display areas stocked, neat, and clean; and remove products unsuitable for sale.
• Maintain the produce reserve stock area, date and rotate back-stock items, and keep the storage area organized and condensed daily.
• Follow established guidelines for disposing of damaged, spoiled, or expired products.
• Assist the Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Clean and sanitize produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
• Generate signage and perform price checks as needed; ensure items are accurately priced and signed.
• Maintain club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Work with the team to deliver daily GOLD club standards, including stocked items, executed promotional plans, accurate signage, and clean, organized facilities.
• Maintain a friendly and positive attitude, support a safe and inclusive environment, and address or escalate Member concerns as appropriate.
