About The Position

The Produce Clerk sorts, displays, removes, and replenishes fresh fruits and vegetables in the produce department. The role maintains the department’s overall environment by assisting Members with product knowledge and customer service, and ensures produce meets or exceeds company quality standards. The position also supports daily club standards, follows company policies and procedures, and may perform other duties or work in other departments as needed.

Requirements

• At least 18 years of age.
• Regular, predictable, full attendance is an essential function of the job.
• Ability to move frequently on hard surfaces and bend, climb, crawl, handle, pull, reach, and stoop while examining or scanning merchandise.
• Frequently lift objects up to 50 pounds; may need to lift and move heavier or awkward objects over 50 pounds with assistance.

Responsibilities

• Assist Members in the produce department by answering questions, recommending products and safe handling tips, and helping Members find products throughout the club.
• Inspect, rotate, and store produce upon delivery, ensuring received items meet or exceed company standards.
• Rotate produce on the sales floor to maintain freshness and variety; keep cases and displays fully stocked, neat, and clean; and remove products unsuitable for sale.
• Maintain the produce reserve stock area by dating and rotating back stock and keeping the storage area organized and condensed daily.
• Follow established guidelines for disposing of damaged, spoiled, or expired products.
• Assist the Fresh Manager with inventory and order processing as needed.
• Clean and sanitize produce equipment, display fixtures, and areas, including the produce cooler and refrigerated display cases.
• Generate signage for produce goods, perform price checks when necessary, and ensure items are accurately priced and signed.
• Maintain all club policies and procedures.
• Perform other assigned duties, including working in other departments as needed.
• Maintain regular, predictable, and full attendance.
• Support a safe, positive, inclusive, and respectful environment for Members and team members; work collaboratively to achieve goals.
• Deliver service excellence, address and de-escalate Member concerns, and follow daily GOLD Member and club standards.
• Understand how to access and read production or financial performance reporting for the department and how consistent execution affects the business.
