About The Position

The Produce Clerk helps keep Hy-Vee’s produce department stocked, fresh, clean, and inviting while providing friendly customer service. The role involves checking merchandise for freshness, replenishing and rotating products, ensuring adequate supply, receiving and putting away products, reviewing invoices, preparing products, and maintaining a clean and safe work area. The clerk also assists customers in person and by phone, orders products and supplies, prices products as needed, and helps with other department tasks and projects. Training is provided.

Ability to carefully follow written and verbal instructions with attention to detail.
Basic math skills, including simple addition, subtraction, counting, and recording.
Clear communication with customers and co-workers and a positive contribution to the team.
Ability to learn and apply sanitation, food safety, and department procedures.
Less than a high school diploma or equivalent experience is accepted.
Six months or less of similar or related work experience; training is provided.
Ability to frequently stand and walk throughout a shift.
Ability to perform repetitive standing, walking, reaching, and bending.

Responsibilities

Greet customers, assist with their needs, and provide friendly, helpful service.
Review merchandise for freshness and appearance; replenish and rotate products to maintain quality standards.
Ensure adequate product supply, develop or follow production lists, and anticipate daily department needs.
Check in products, put products away, and review invoices as needed.
Prepare, finish, and replenish products as necessary.
Follow sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean, neat, and safe.
Remove trash promptly and assist with general department upkeep.
Order products and supplies and price products as needed.
Answer phone calls promptly and provide helpful customer service.
Follow Hy-Vee dress code, hygiene standards, and department and company guidelines.
Assist with other tasks and special projects as needed.
