About The Position

As a member of the C&S Wholesale Grocers family of companies, SpartanNash is a food solutions company that distributes grocery and household goods, including fresh produce and the Our Family® portfolio, to locations in all 50 states. The Produce Associate maintains and operates the produce department, preparing and merchandising products according to company and department standards and contributing to the store’s financial interests. The role includes completing other duties as assigned. Work is performed in a typical retail store environment with varied temperatures and possible exposure to outside weather conditions. Noise is usually low to moderate; travel requirements vary by assignment.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.
Must be able to work with fresh fruits and vegetables without negative allergic consequences that adversely affect the ability to perform.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.
Detail-oriented.

Responsibilities

Cut, slice, and prepare produce as directed; follow established procedures for culling, trimming, and storing products.
Weigh, package, and label products.
Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
Fill, rotate, and merchandise produce and floral shelves, cases, and displays; assist with unloading deliveries and stacking products in coolers.
Notify the Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Use suggestive selling techniques with customers.
Maintain familiarity with department products, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
Maintain clean, attractive, and well-stocked departments.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines.
Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow Guest Experience Guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments as needed to support customer experience.
Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
