About The Position

The Produce Associate maintains and operates the produce department by trimming and preparing merchandise according to company and department standards. The role helps ensure each work shift contributes to the store’s financial best interest and includes completing other assigned duties in a timely manner. The associate prepares, packages, labels, stocks, rotates, and merchandises produce and floral products; assists with deliveries; follows product-handling, safety, food-safety, cleaning, PPE, and guest-experience guidelines; and provides product information and suggestive selling to customers. Duties may also include tasks in other departments to meet customer-experience needs.

Requirements

Ability to work with fresh fruits and vegetables without negative allergic consequences that adversely affect the ability to perform.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.
Detail-oriented.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Cut, slice, and prepare produce as directed.
Cull, trim, and store products according to established procedures.
Weigh, package, and label products.
Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
Fill, rotate, and merchandise produce and floral shelves, cases, and displays.
Assist with unloading deliveries and stacking products in coolers.
Notify the Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Use suggestive selling techniques with customers.
Maintain familiarity with department products, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
Maintain clean, attractive, and well-stocked departments.
Follow PPE, safety, food-safety, cleaning, and guest-experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments based on customer-experience needs.
Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.
