About The Position
Westborn Market is a third-generation owned and operated business founded in 1963, with four locations across Metro Detroit. The company emphasizes quality goods, superior service, and strong relationships with customers and team members. Under general supervision, the Produce Associate helps keep the produce department running smoothly by stocking and maintaining displays and assisting customers with produce-related needs. The role includes preparing and packaging products, handling produce deliveries, preparing foods according to established recipes, maintaining quality and freshness, and keeping the work area clean and safe. This position is non-exempt and reports to the Produce Manager, Store Director, and Produce Director.
Requirements
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Ability to write legibly and read with comprehension at a level applicable to the position.
- Ability to monitor and maintain quality control standards.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the role, including moderate physical activity and handling objects up to 25 pounds or standing and/or walking for more than four hours per day.
- Ability to follow basic safety precautions in a work environment with some exposure to hazards or physical risks.
Responsibilities
- Stock and rotate produce to ensure quality and freshness.
- Prepare, package, and price products as directed.
- Operate machinery such as a bailer and pallet jack to make bales and move pallets.
- Assist with loading and unloading produce trucks.
- Cut, weigh, and label produce in accordance with food safety best practices.
- Prepare guacamole, pico de gallo, and other goods using established recipes.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Follow Westborn Market’s time and attendance policy.
- Maintain a clean, organized work area free of hazards.
- Perform other job-related duties and follow job-related instructions as assigned.
