About The Position

The Bakery Associate assists customers with selecting and purchasing bakery items while providing exceptional customer service. The role requires a high level of bakery product knowledge and includes baking, preparing, stocking, packaging, and pricing products. The associate follows written recipes, set bake-off times, food-safety best practices, and basic safety precautions while maintaining a clean and organized work area. The position is non-exempt and reports to the Bakery Manager and Store Directors.

Requirements

• Use proper phone etiquette when taking orders or messages.
• Write legibly and read with sufficient comprehension for the position.
• Handle average-weight objects up to 25 pounds, or stand and/or walk for more than four hours per day.
• Follow basic safety precautions in a work environment with some exposure to hazards or physical risks.

Responsibilities

• Bake off pastry case items such as muffins, croissants, and scones according to set times.
• Prepare parfaits, dips, and other bakery items by following written recipes.
• Use commercial bakery equipment, including ovens, knives, and bread slicers.
• Stock and rotate bakery merchandise as directed.
• Prepare, package, and price products as directed.
• Assist customers with orders and with selecting and purchasing bakery items.
• Provide exceptional customer service and maintain a positive, helpful attitude throughout the shift.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area in accordance with food-safety best practices.
• Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
