About The Position

The Produce Associate maintains and operates the produce department, preparing and trimming merchandise according to company and department standards. The role helps ensure the work shift contributes to the store’s financial interests and completes other assigned duties in a timely manner. The associate prepares, packages, labels, stocks, rotates, and displays produce and floral products; handles damaged or spoiled goods according to guidelines; assists with deliveries; and supports customers through product knowledge and suggestive selling. The role also follows safety, food safety, cleaning, and guest experience guidelines, and may assist in other departments as customer needs require.

Requirements

Ability to work with fresh fruits and vegetables without negative allergic consequences that adversely affect job performance.
Ability to read, write, comprehend, and interpret documents.
Basic mathematical skills.
Detail-oriented.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED preferred.
One year of retail or related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Cut, slice, and prepare produce as directed, following established procedures for culling, trimming, and storing products.
Weigh, package, and label products.
Handle spoiled or damaged products according to established guidelines.
Fill, rotate, and merchandise produce and floral shelves, cases, and displays.
Assist with unloading deliveries and stacking products in coolers.
Notify the Manager when products or supplies need to be ordered.
Use suggestive selling techniques with customers.
Maintain familiarity with department products, including differences in price, taste, preparation, and use.
Maintain clean, attractive, and well-stocked departments.
Follow PPE and safety guidelines.
Follow food safety and cleaning expectations.
Follow guest experience guidelines.
Perform tasks in other departments as assigned based on customer experience needs.
Complete other responsibilities as assigned.
