Prod. & Maintenance Coordinator

SunCoke EnergyEast Chicago, IN

About The Position

The Prod. & Maintenance Coordinator (PMC) reviews all non-emergency work requests to ensure they meet process requirements and requested completion dates, considering facilities planning lead times. This role coordinates the site’s contractor activities while adhering to bargaining unit requirements, including regular meetings with the union. The PMC monitors and reports on maintenance headcount (SunCoke, resident contractors, and third-party services) to ensure staffing levels are within budgetary constraints and elevates the need to increase budgeted headcount for surge maintenance and outage events. The PMC facilitates the weekly scheduling meeting, ensuring planned work is matched with available resources, and has the final determination of the schedule, which is a collaborative effort between all plant departments. This role also redirects minor maintenance activities to production technicians when time, tools, and materials are available to ensure optimal use of maintenance resources. The PMC coaches and provides feedback to originators when work orders are not properly entered or have insufficient descriptions, and ensures the Management of Change process is followed when necessary. Continually reviewing the work order backlog to ensure jobs with the highest priority and added value are prioritized, planned, and executed in a timely fashion is crucial to maintaining regulatory requirements and reliability. The PMC elevates the need for maintenance overtime to ensure jobs complete on time to meet process unit needs and reviews daily schedules to ensure they meet plant needs. This role acts as a liaison between operations and maintenance groups on any problems adhering to the schedule and provides schedule information to Production Operators for equipment preparation needs. The PMC participates in the identification and implementation of reliability-driven improvements and ensures the work group has a full understanding of the workflow process. The PMC follows all SSEP requirements and manages the plant winterization program.
