About The Position

The Sara Lee Frozen Bakery Procurement Internship is a 10–12-week summer program designed to develop analytical and strategic thinking skills through immersive projects. Interns learn about the food industry, the company and its operations, and how different functions contribute to its products and customer partnerships. The program also offers professional and social engagement activities, opportunities to work with senior leaders, and networking with other interns. The intern contributes to procurement projects involving packaging, ingredients, supplier relationship management and market research, and prepares a final summer presentation for the executive leadership team. The position follows a hybrid schedule at the Oakbrook Terrace headquarters from June to August 2027. Relocation and housing assistance are not provided.

Requirements

Be a current student pursuing a degree curriculum relevant to the position, such as Business, Supply Chain, Economics or a similar field.
Have an overall GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
Have strong Microsoft Office skills, including advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
Have strong communication skills and the ability to interface effectively with key stakeholders at every level of the business.
Be a self-starter able to work independently.
Have experience working in cross-functional teams.
Be able to work a hybrid schedule at the Oakbrook Terrace headquarters from June to August 2027.

Responsibilities

Contribute to projects in a fast-paced environment, including packaging and ingredient initiatives, supplier relationship management, market research, and a final summer presentation for the executive leadership team.
Support project management and execution for packaging and ingredient initiatives.
Assess the Supplier Relationship Management program against industry best practices and recommend the scope, tools, dashboards and resources needed to drive value for Sara Lee Frozen Bakery and its suppliers.
Conduct market research on micro and macro dynamics that may affect the packaging portfolio and provide insights to the category manager.
Analyze packaging purchases to ensure contract compliance and optimal buying compliance.
Update packaging material minimum order quantity (MOQ) data in NetSuite (ERP).
Review and update the procurement policy document as needed.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or assigned.
