About The Position

HII is seeking a Procurement Specialist for its Syracuse, New York Operations to support procurement of material and equipment for various programs. The role works with engineers, program managers, and suppliers to help ensure delivery requirements are met and supports program teams in product cost estimating. It is part of Warfare Systems, within HII’s Mission Technologies division.

Requirements

• Three years of relevant experience with a bachelor’s degree in a related field; one year of relevant experience with a master’s degree in a related field; or a high school diploma or equivalent and seven years of relevant experience.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Word, and Excel.
• Self-motivation and a strong desire to succeed with minimal direction.
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to multitask and work well under pressure.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working with U.S. government contracts, including FAR/DFAR regulations.
• Experience procuring aerospace electronics and metal fabrication.
• Prior Costpoint experience.
• An active Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Procure material and equipment, considering price, availability, and delivery schedules.
• Collaborate with Engineering and Program Management to identify issues and opportunities to reduce part shortages.
• Respond promptly to requests for material.
• Support program teams with product cost estimating.
• Prepare requests for quotations, conduct source selections, and analyze results.
• Negotiate pricing and contractual terms.
• Develop and provide accurate material-shortage and progress-metric reports.
• Manage supplier relationships and address supplier performance issues involving on-time delivery and quality.
• Prepare, organize, and maintain electronic purchasing records and data documenting performance and compliance.
