About The Position

The Process Systems Analyst will be responsible for maintaining, controlling, validating, auditing, and improving all Boars Head Provisions manufactured items. The Analyst is expected to maintain product quality, support and adhere to all food safety programs, and ensure product and processes are consistent and meet process specifications. This position requires a highly structured individual with exceptional technical and practical skills. The candidate will be considered the “Plant Processing Specialist” and must exhibit strong knowledge of our product lines, manufactured products, and processes.

Requirements

  • Seven (7) to ten (10) years of experience working in a production/manufacturing environment, preferably in meat processing or a similar food processing environment.
  • Demonstrated understanding of processing and quality monitoring.
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programs.
  • Effective communication with all levels of plant personnel.
  • Fluent in English.
  • Ability to communicate on a technical level and express technical concepts to non-technical personnel.
  • Ability to write and interpret technical reports.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word and PowerPoint for communicating reports and projects to management.
  • Capable of performing and understanding mathematical calculations associated with meat processing and laboratory testing (e.g., product formulations, percent yield, added ingredients, protein fat free calculations).
  • Ability to read and analyze process data, charts, graphs, and logs.
  • Ability to structure and interpret large amounts of data in Microsoft Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • A degree in Engineering, Food Science, Agricultural Studies, or equivalent work experience.
  • Experience with databases and other analytical software programs.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain, control, validate, audit, and improve all Boars Head Provisions manufactured items.
  • Maintain product quality and support food safety programs.
  • Ensure product and processes are consistent and meet process specifications.
  • Oversee the development of robust manufacturing control programs, including ongoing maintenance and improvement of Process Operating Guides, Process Procedures, Point of Process Expectations, Process Change Process, Process Specifications, and the DNA Process Control Program.
  • Utilize Ignition, Oracle, Matrix, and plant floor observations for process and equipment analysis.
  • Manage S.C.O.P.E sensory evaluations, including logged finished quality grading/assessments.
  • Initiate and authorize testing for process and product improvement, nutritional alignment, and new vendor validation.
  • Participate in plant training as necessary.
  • Work cross-functionally with all Plant and Corporate Departments.
  • Adapt new processing technologies to products and processes.
  • Direct and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Adapt to unforeseen circumstances, resolve conflict, and gain trust and support from all disciplines with minimal assistance.
  • Oversee plant processes control and improvement programs, including engineering/maintenance/reliability projects.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve Process Operating Guides, Process Procedures, Process audits, Process improvement, and DNA process control functions.
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with cross-functional groups (R&D, Procurement, Engineering, Cost Accounting, Manufacturing, and Quality) on quality and process control related projects and issues.
  • Establish and maintain point of process product expectations (POPEs) while monitoring all process deviations.
  • Drive Product/Process Improvement projects through the use of operational and quality-related metrics.
  • Accountable for driving successful actions and maintaining measurable improvement.
  • Conduct tests and analyze data to improve product quality.
  • Oversee the process change system in the plant to ensure it is effective, accurate, and all information is properly communicated and recorded.
  • Evaluate data, conduct root cause analysis, and provide direction for process problem resolution.
  • Analyze data from multiple sources to create reporting diagrams, charts, and reports to maintain and improve product quality.
  • Provide training to plant supervision and other support to resolve processing problems and maintain product quality.
  • Act as an advocate for Protecting the Brand by not allowing the team to compromise quality for other gains.
  • Support the local team at the plant by being a true process partner that supports operational needs/initiatives while keeping the team aligned with approved processes.
