Process Machine Operator - Stock Yards
About The Position
Prepare and pack high-quality meat cuts according to customer specifications, company standards, and safety requirements. Most of the work involves operating meat-processing equipment. The role is based at the Stock Yards facility in Spokane Valley, Washington, and works a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Work takes place continually in a refrigerated environment of 35°F–45°F. The position operates in a fast-paced production setting; the finish time depends on when work is completed and may require overtime with or without notice. The expected base rate is $25.00–$27.20 per hour.
Requirements
- Ability to work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Ability to work continually in a refrigerated environment of 35°F–45°F.
- Ability to meet the physical demands described, including continuous standing; frequent lifting and carrying of medium-weight items; and frequent pushing/pulling, climbing/balancing, stooping/squatting, bending, twisting, and object manipulation.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with CryoVac, MultiVac, dicers, needles, slicers, portion cutters, laser portion machinery, or other meat-production equipment.
- Knowledge of poultry, beef, lamb, and pork products.
- Knowledge of USDA grades and standards.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Responsibilities
- Operate meat-processing equipment, including CryoVac, MultiVacs, dicers, needles, slicers, portion cutters, and scales.
- Pack, trim, and customize meat portions using knives or other meat-production equipment.
- Count and stack portions on trays according to customer and company specifications.
- Label portions using supplied product-number labels.
- Set up packing and labeling areas as required.
- Perform end-of-day functions.
- Maintain and merchandise partial carts.
- Keep the packing area, cutting room, and surrounding areas clean and sanitized.
- Follow company Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to maintain sanitary conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the manager.
