About The Position

Iron Oak Energy is seeking a Process Improvement Engineer to join their Operations team at the Wedron, IL location. This role will focus on improving operations and maintenance effectiveness and efficiencies through stewardship of capital projects, engineering design support, equipment specifications/diagnostics, and process system review and troubleshooting. The Process Improvement Engineer will be responsible for all five stages of the project lifecycle and all FEL stages from initial conception through substantial completion and full acceptance. The position involves leading projects, coordinating resources, performing cost estimates and project schedules, analyzing project status, and establishing client stakeholder relationships. The role also includes identifying systems for debottlenecking and loss prevention, evaluating personnel and work processes for continuous improvement, facilitating workshops for problem-solving and idea generation, and collaborating with cross-functional departments.

Requirements

  • BS in an engineering discipline.
  • 3-5 years’ work-related experience preferably in the industrial manufacturing sector (hydrocarbons, chemicals, mineral processing, adhesives etc.)
  • Skilled in relevant design calculations and methods and in use of engineering programs.
  • Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills to address complex technical matters.
  • Strong attention to deadlines and budgetary guidelines.
  • Proven success working with all levels of management.
  • Ability to manage and provide direction to engineering and 3rd party resources.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent presentation skills.
  • Skilled at conveying technical information to plant and corporate leadership.
  • A leader with strong communication skills & a team player.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Provide stewardship of capital projects and support engineering design, equipment specifications/diagnostics, process system review and troubleshooting.
  • Responsible for all five stages of the project lifecycle and all FEL stages from initial conception through substantial completion and full acceptance.
  • Work with site leadership to support the Company’s Operations Management System with objectives that include improving Operations & Maintenance work effectiveness and efficiencies.
  • Carry out varied engineering assignments requiring general familiarity with a broad field of engineering and knowledge of reciprocal effects of the work upon other fields.
  • Lead projects from requirements definition through deployment, identifying schedules, scopes, budget estimations, and implementation plans, including risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate internal and external resources to ensure that projects adhere to scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Complete cost estimates and project schedules as well as ensure timeliness in the completion of projects of high quality within budget.
  • Analyze project status and, when necessary, revise the scope, schedule, or budget to ensure that project requirements can be met.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with relevant client stakeholders, providing day-to-day contact on project status and changes.
  • Problem solve using a combination of standard methodologies, processes, and procedures acquired and/or developed in previous assignments or best practices.
  • Assign and monitor resources to ensure project efficiency and maximize deliverables.
  • Report project outcomes and/or risks to the appropriate management channels and escalate issues, as necessary, according to project work plan.
  • Assist to identify systems to support debottlenecking and loss prevention.
  • Continually evaluate personnel and work processes with continuous improvement as the objective.
  • Facilitate local workshops to generate involvement for problem solving and idea generation at all levels throughout the Organization including front line workers.
  • Collaborate with cross functional and interdependent departments as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Must be able to wear a respirator and other required personal protective equipment.
