About The Position

The York Region Children’s Aid Society (YRCAS) is a non-profit community organization legally mandated to protect children and youth from abuse and neglect. As a leader within the child welfare sector, we partner with parents, caregivers, and community to provide a safe environment for children and youth, through equitable, culturally aligned services. Comprised of interdisciplinary teams of diverse professionals who push boundaries in support of family centered care, we engage with children and families for a stronger, healthier community within the York Region. To support us on our journey, YRCAS is looking for a Process Improvement Assistant to support our Corporate Services Department. This is a Canada Summer Jobs funded position, specifically for eligible individuals looking to gain work experience during the summer months.

Requirements

  • Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills and able to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent computer skills, with superior knowledge of MS Excel, including advanced functions (e.g., Formulas, Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPS, Macros, etcetera).
  • Strong proficiency with data visualization tools, with a particular emphasis on Power B.I.
  • Proficient in analysing complex data and interpreting results.
  • Superior documentation and reporting skills.
  • Knowledge of database management and SQL considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of CPIN (Child Protection Information Network) System considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Power Apps, Power Automate & SharePoint
  • Knowledge of Datawarehouse (Fact and Dimensions Tables) and Data modelling.
  • Knowledge of Python Programming Knowledge.
  • Currently enrolled in or have recently completed a post-secondary program in Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Data Visualization or in a related field.
  • Be able to complete the full hours before August 28th, 2026.
  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment.
  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Only eligible candidates under the Canada Summer Jobs program will be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Periodically audit case records for accuracy and general compliance with MCCSS Standards, and to ensure alignment with the Agency’s Quality Improvement Program.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data to identify trends and areas for improvement and make informed projections and recommendations.
  • Assist in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing service delivery, client outcomes, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Support the development and implementation of quality assurance tools, audits, and monitoring activities.
  • Help maintain and enhance the Agency’s performance dashboard, ensuring data accuracy and usability.
  • Create and contribute to the preparation of reports, summaries, recommendations, presentation, etc.
  • Contribute to program evaluation, outcome measurement, and client feedback processes.
  • Participate in projects that align with the agency’s Quality Improvement Plan and compliance requirements.
  • Participate in Committees, Working Groups, Task Forces, and other Collaborative Opportunities to enhance best practices across the organization.
  • Participate in identifying, assessing, and monitoring key organizational risks.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining a risk register and tracking mitigation strategies.
  • Support the review of incident reports, complaints, and case trends to identify potential risks or systemic issues.
  • Contribute to the development of risk communication and reporting tools.
  • Assist with risk assessments related to new programs, policy changes, or emerging issues.
  • Participate in the Quality and Risk Committee, helping to document discussions and action items.
  • Support initiatives that strengthen risk awareness and accountability across the Agency.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, committees, and working groups to advance Agency priorities.
  • Provide research, data summaries, and background information to support decision-making.
  • Contribute to the preparation of reports, presentations, and briefing notes.
  • Engage in community and provincial working groups as applicable.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
