About The Position

HII’s Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) division is the largest industrial employer in Virginia, with over 25,000 employees. They are the sole designer, builder, and refueler of U.S. Navy nuclear aircraft carriers and one of two providers of U.S. Navy nuclear submarines. The team is diverse, including skilled trades, project managers, engineers, software developers, solution architects, technical subject matter experts, and system users, collaborating at the forefront of technology, manufacturing, and integration of naval ships. The role of a Process Improvement Analyst 4 involves defining, designing, and implementing continuous improvement programs, ensuring these programs are integrated both vertically and horizontally across the organization. This includes defining improvement projects aligned with business strategies, analyzing program effectiveness and potential results, and facilitating and coaching improvement teams. The analyst is also responsible for establishing and maintaining performance metrics to measure program success and installing process excellence supports for program governance, project reviews, communications, training, certifications, and rewards. Six-sigma certification may be held by the incumbent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and 10 years of relevant exempt experience; or Master’s Degree and 8 year of relevant professional experience.
  • One of the following may be used as equivalent to Bachelor's Degree to meet minimum qualifications: NNS Apprentice School graduate; Navy Nuclear Power School (NNPS) graduate; Associate's Degree or other formal 2 year program and 2 years of relevant exempt experience or 4 years of relevant non-exempt experience; Military Paygrade E-5 or above military experience; High School/GED and 4 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant exempt experience; High School/GED and 8 years combined of Manufacturing, Shipbuilding, Trades, Military experience or other relevant non-exempt experience.
