Internship - Process Engineering
About The Position
Infineon Technologies is seeking an intern to join their Leominster backend operations and design site. This site develops, packages, assembles, tests, and screens semiconductors, ICs, and modules for harsh environments. The internship is onsite and focuses on supporting manufacturing activities, operating complex semiconductor equipment, executing experiments for process optimization, defining operating windows, troubleshooting issues, participating in continuous improvement projects, and producing documentation. The role requires a six-month commitment and access to export-controlled documentation, necessitating US citizenship or permanent residency.
Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years progress toward BS in Mechanical Engineering or Materials Science, senior students graduating within a year preferred
- Comfort operating lab/manufacturing equipment
- Proficient with MS Office especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Detail-oriented with methodical approach to analyze data and draw conclusions
- Strong verbal and written skills to convey information across organizational levels
- Self-starter who adapts quickly, takes initiative, and is available for on-site work
- Candidate must be able and willing to commit to a six-month on-site assignment
- US citizen or permanent resident required for export-controlled documentation access
Nice To Haves
- familiarity with JMP preferred
- co-op/intern experience preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Maintain visible presence on the manufacturing floor to support operators and technicians with sustaining manufacturing activities
- Operate and qualify complex backend semiconductor equipment for continuous improvement experiments and qualifications
- Plan and execute experiments to commission, optimize, and qualify equipment and processes
- Define optimal equipment operating windows and create standard work for safe and proper use
- Troubleshoot assembly and mechanical screening issues using structured root cause analysis and SME collaboration
- Participate in and implement Lean or Six Sigma improvement projects with hands-on application
- Produce CAD drawings, process documentation, and support SPC integration for proper data collection
