Responsible for special projects and related engineering assistance in support of manufacturing operations. This role involves utilizing engineering disciplines to troubleshoot shop floor activities, improve throughput, and reduce costs. The Process Engineer will interact with Divisional Engineering on new jobs related to PPAP and process items, communicate foreseen issues with the Technical Manager, and initiate job specifications for new jobs. They will also obtain and fashion samples for documentation, coordinate and perform initial trial runs on new processes and equipment, and track issues for resolution. The position involves initiating improvements to existing systems, processing machinery and equipment, and creating documentation such as bill of materials, process flows, and PFMEA. The role may include customer visitations, interaction with various plant personnel, and working with raw material suppliers. The Process Engineer will stay abreast of technology improvements, recommend and justify equipment and process implementations for cost reduction, and work on continuous improvement programs. Maintaining job records and statistically analyzing data from test runs are also key responsibilities. The role requires close collaboration with shift supervisors and department managers to ensure quality operations during new job start-ups and provides assistance to the plant technical manager on assigned projects. Occasional performance of duties other than those specified may be required.
