About The Position

Develop processes to ensure metallurgical integrity of cast turbine blades and vanes. Develop and refine process parameters that impact solidification via gating, casting parameters and various heat transfer aids. Develop and implement measures to ensure casting cleanliness, e.g. metal filtration, wax pattern dressing procedures and mold cleaning practices. Specify and evaluate, as needed, refinement in mold making (investing) procedures. Continuously improve processes to reduce casting scrap resulting from grain, x-ray, fluorescent penetrant, metallographic and visual examinations of the part. Analyze and determine root cause of metallurgical defects utilizing non-destructive, destructive methods and metallographic tools. Utilize statistical and graphical analysis techniques. Initiate and interface with all levels of manufacturing, management, suppliers and customers. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Metallurgical, Materials, Chemical or other related Engineering discipline.
  • Proven analytical, problem solving, and process improvement ability
  • Working knowledge of process control methods
  • Demonstrated ability to develop & execute action plans that will deliver results
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and easily adapt to changing situations and priorities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or permanent resident (green card holder)

Nice To Haves

  • Hands-on experience in the airfoils investment casting industry a plus
  • Proficiency in a major, industry standard 3D CAD software package and solidification modeling a plus.
  • Working knowledge of Zero-Defect Program: PFMEA, Control Plan, Process Control Six Sigma Certification a plus
