About The Position

Nanopath is developing a first-in-class in vitro diagnostics platform intended to replace lengthy molecular testing workflows with rapid, high-quality diagnostics closer to the patient. Its mission is to improve patient outcomes, starting with women, through a purpose-built platform that delivers actionable results within a single office visit. The company is headquartered at The Engine in the Kendall Square ecosystem and is committed to health equity, solutions for underserved populations and low-resource settings, and environmental and social sustainability. Nanopath is seeking a Process Development Senior Research Associate / Associate Scientist to join its Assay R&D team. The role supports the development, optimization, and scaling of workflows for the diagnostic platform. It is highly hands-on, with work across assay preparation, reagent development, and analytical testing.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in bioengineering, biomedical engineering, molecular biology, chemistry, or a related field, with 4+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Experience with liquid-handler automation, automated assay workflows, or programming or operating automated laboratory platforms.
  • Experience with nucleic acid assays, biosensors, microarrays, or spotting or printing technologies.
  • Familiarity with design control, quality systems, GLP/GxP principles, or documentation practices for regulated diagnostics.
  • Strong organization, efficiency, attention to detail, and motivation to complete tasks accurately and on time.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience in cross-functional, highly collaborative work environments.
  • Passion for Nanopath’s mission of developing a purpose-built solution for women’s health.

Responsibilities

  • Support development of robust, repeatable protocols for reagent manufacturing, array fabrication, and assay execution.
  • Assist with process characterization, quality control, stability, reproducibility, and verification-supporting studies as Nanopath advances toward regulated product development.
  • Prepare reagents, samples, and materials; maintain laboratory organization; and support routine equipment use and maintenance.
  • Collect, analyze, summarize, and present experimental data clearly and promptly.
  • Troubleshoot experimental workflows and collaborate with assay, engineering, product, and operations team members to identify root causes and implement improvements.
