Youth Villages’ Specialized Crisis Services (SCS) Program provides rapid assessment and intervention for youth up to age 18 experiencing psychiatric emergencies, including suicidal or homicidal thoughts, severe depression, physical aggression, psychosis, or destructive or uncontrollable behavior. The program provides strength-based assessments and crisis management to promote the safety of youth and others. Services are available to families, community members, and providers, regardless of whether the youth is already receiving services from Youth Villages. SCS staff work with youth, families, and community partners to evaluate risk and develop immediate stabilization plans. Services are delivered in the home or community, with ongoing treatment and intervention provided until appropriate long-term services can be secured. The PRN Crisis Response Counselor provides mobile crisis response and assessment in youths’ natural environments, may use crisis respite homes when appropriate, and supports youth and families until they have appropriate services. The schedule is flexible and non-traditional, based on the availability of the youth and families served. The role requires a current, valid driver’s license, an automobile for work purposes, and proof of auto insurance. Applicable mileage is reimbursed for community-based staff. Pay is $20–$22 per hour, based on education and clinical license.
