About The Position

The successful candidate will join the Portfolio Construction and Manager Research group within Multi-Asset Solutions (MAS), a key investment area within Goldman Sachs Asset & Wealth Management. This role is crucial for the ongoing success of our multi-asset platform and requires close collaboration with MAS research and client teams, as well as product teams across the Asset & Wealth Management division. The primary focus will be on private assets portfolio construction and manager research within MAS. This is a highly analytical and detail-oriented position.

Requirements

  • Over 10 years of investment experience in private assets, or multi-asset portfolio management inclusive of private assets.
  • Detail-oriented and organized with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

  • Ability to communicate investment strategies and rationales to audiences of varying levels of sophistication.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on constructing and implementing allocations to private assets within multi-asset portfolios, including analysis of asset classes, potential benefits and drawbacks, risks and returns, recommended allocations, manager sizing, benchmarking, and commitment pacing.
  • Develop investment guidelines for private assets, considering the diverse objectives and constraints of MAS's multiple client channels.
  • Evaluate private strategies across GSAM proprietary and external platforms to select strategies for inclusion in MAS portfolios.
  • Conduct due diligence on GSAM private asset strategies, preparing diligence memos, peer comparisons, and approval materials for MAS’ Investment Center.
  • Monitor approved managers on an ongoing basis, assessing performance, risk, attribution, and organizational changes, reporting findings to stakeholders, and recommending actions.
  • Lead MAS’ secondary market process for legacy private assets, including evaluating potential brokers, developing and executing RFIs, and identifying client portfolios and investments suitable for secondary sales.
  • Contribute to modeling inputs and assumptions for private assets, such as expected returns, volatility, correlations, and implementation structures.
  • Collaborate with Research teams to ensure consistency of private asset assumptions across MAS.
  • Support Investment Portfolio Managers (LPMs) with client-specific questions and issues, including understanding and adhering to investment guidelines, conducting new research for unique client situations, and supporting the development of client materials like Investment Committee materials and RFPs.
  • Partner with LPMs and Portfolio Managers (PMs) to ensure portfolios adhere to best practices and document any deviations.
  • Support the development and evolution of private asset products, such as building block funds and private asset vehicles, including portfolio design and supporting materials.
  • Coordinate private asset deployment by working with LPMs to identify suitable clients for specific funds and manage new commitments through completion.
