Private Equity Partnerships Lead

Hyphenate•New York, NY
•$180,000 - $220,000•Onsite

About The Position

Hyphenate is hiring a Private Equity Partnerships Lead to build its private equity channel from the ground up. The role owns relationships with private equity firms—especially operating partners and portfolio value-creation teams—and turns those relationships into a repeatable source of warm, qualified pipeline for Account Executives. Performance is measured on closed ARR sourced by the role. This is an individual-contributor position and the first hire dedicated to the channel, with responsibility for building the playbook and proving the channel before a team is added. The position reports to the Chief Revenue Officer and works directly with the CEO. The role is based in New York City, with work from Hyphenate’s Manhattan office five days a week and flexibility for the right person. The compensation package includes a $180,000–$220,000 base salary, commission tied to sourced closed ARR, and meaningful equity. Benefits include medical, dental, and vision coverage for the employee and dependents, plus a 401(k) match. The office provides meals and stocked supplies; a move to a new downtown space is planned for early 2027.

Requirements

  • Experience working in, selling to, or partnering with private equity; familiarity with the PE landscape and existing relationships with operating partners, portfolio operations, or deal teams at mid-market and upper-mid-market firms.
  • Experience building a partnership or channel from scratch in B2B technology, ideally in fintech, accounting, finance, or ERP-adjacent software.
  • A demonstrable playbook for operationalizing a PE partner funnel, including gaining access, identifying stakeholders, sourcing introductions, and tracking activity.
  • Experience carrying and achieving a sourced pipeline or revenue target.
  • Ability to own a channel end to end as an individual contributor, with CRO and founder support and no team initially.
  • Based in New York City or willing to relocate; the team works from its Manhattan office.
  • High agency and ownership, with the ability to run the channel independently.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as an operating partner, in portfolio operations at a PE firm, or as a finance operator inside a PE-backed company.
  • CPA or accounting, audit, or FP&A experience, with the ability to discuss close, revenue recognition, or cash credibly with Controllers.
  • Experience leading PE or VC partnerships at a finance software company, such as an ERP, close, FP&A, billing, or spend-management company, and relationships that can be reactivated.
  • B2B fintech partnership experience beyond PE, such as with accounting advisory firms, ERPs, or systems integrators.
  • Experience building something from 0 to 1 at an early-stage startup.

Responsibilities

  • Build the private equity channel from 0 to 1, including the target-firm list, outreach motion, partner value proposition, and sales handoff.
  • Open and own relationships with operating partners, portfolio operations, value-creation, and finance leaders at the top 50 to 100 PE firms investing in B2B software, CPG, manufacturing, wholesale distribution, and multi-entity roll-ups.
  • Map sponsors’ portfolios, identify companies with relevant finance complexity, and source warm introductions to their CFOs and Controllers.
  • Manage the partner funnel and report weekly on firms engaged, portfolio companies introduced, meetings sourced, and closed ARR.
  • Design and test an operating-partner motion, including packaged multi-portfolio-company deployments that sponsors can prioritize and roll out across their portfolios.
  • Work with customer and solutions teams to turn successful customer deployments into portfolio-wide conversations.
  • Represent Hyphenate in the PE ecosystem, including operating-partner forums, events, dinners, and relationships with advisory and consulting firms serving PE.
  • Partner with Account Executives on sourced deals from introduction through close, and work with Marketing on PE-specific content, case studies, and events.
  • Share market feedback internally, including which firms convert, what operating partners care about, and what the product needs for portfolio-wide deployment.

  • Dental coverage for the employee and dependents.
  • Vision coverage for the employee and dependents.
  • 401(k) match.
  • Commission tied to closed ARR sourced.
