About The Position

Interim HealthCare is hiring a Private Duty Companion in Topeka, Kansas, to help seniors live safely and happily at home. The role provides personal care, practical support, companionship, and assistance with daily activities. Companions work one-to-one with clients and can set their own schedules. The position pays $15.00–$18.00 per hour. The local agency is family-owned and operated and offers services across the continuum of care.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Six months of experience in a healthcare role is preferred.
• CPR certification.
• Valid Kansas driver’s license, auto insurance, and transportation.
• Compassionate, helpful nature and good communication skills.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Participate in activities clients enjoy, such as puzzles, games, reading, and hobbies.
• Provide personal care and support to help seniors live safely at home.
• Assist with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, light housekeeping, meal preparation, shopping, transportation, and companionship.
• Assist with ambulation, transferring, and range-of-motion exercises.
• Provide medication reminders, document clients’ conditions, and notify a supervisor of concerns.
• Help maintain a safe home environment by keeping pathways unobstructed.
