About The Position

The Prior Authorization Pharmacy Technician supports outpatient pharmacy operations by managing the end-to-end prior-authorization process for medications, services, and procedures. The role ensures timely submission of accurate documentation to payers, monitors authorizations and denials, collaborates with clinical and provider teams, and helps optimize reimbursement while safeguarding patient access to therapy.

The position performs duties of a Registered Technician under the direction of a supervising pharmacist, supporting daily pharmacy operations. It performs routine and clerical functions for drug distribution to patients and may work independently within its scope of responsibility.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent.
• 0–6 months of work experience.
• Current registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the South Carolina Board of Pharmacy (SCBOP), which must be maintained.
• Obtain and maintain Pharmacy Technician Certification through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) or the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT). Certification deadlines depend on team-member start date and qualifying training-program enrollment.
