About The Position

The Printer Operator works closely with the Manufacturing Supervisor to ensure the printing of a quality product that meets or exceeds customer expectations. This role is responsible for maintaining the activities of the printer/decorator for beverage cans with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity, and Spoilage. The operator will also be responsible for the safe operation and maintenance of decorator equipment, communicating pertinent information between shifts and departments, and assisting in training new operators. Additionally, the role involves inspecting product for quality compliance, completing necessary documentation, and applying skills to improve plant production.

Requirements

  • High School Education/GED
  • 2-3 year(s) in setup/operating/adjusting printing decorators in a manufacturing environment.
  • Able to operate, read, understand, measuring x rite color density guage, and computers.
  • Must be available to work various shifts if needed and be able to work nights, weekends, and overtime to cover absences or provide additional support.
  • Problem solving skills through an individual and/or collaborative approach.
  • Ability to work independently or with a team.
  • With consensus be able to look at new solutions and “think outside the box”.
  • Effective leadership skills such as conflict resolution, communication, decision making, etc.
  • Demonstrated good relations skills and the ability to motivate or team with people.
  • Excellent time management skills and multi-tasking.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Computer skills and working knowledge of various Microsoft programs (Excel, Word, Access, etc.).
  • Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, use hands, reach with hands and arms.
  • May be required to balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • May lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision and ability to adjust focus.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining activities of the printer/decorator beverage cans with a focus on optimizing Safety, Quality, Productivity and Spoilage.
  • Operating, safe operation, and maintaining of decorator equipment.
  • Communicating all pertinent information between the supervisor, quality control, departments, and between shifts on changes to equipment, production problems or any other related information.
  • Assisting and training and/or coaching of all new operators as needed or required.
  • Applying skills and methods to improve plant production.
  • Inspecting product to ensure compliance to quality standards.
  • Maintaining quality and modifications of existing quality or production standards to achieve optimal efficiencies.
  • Completing and/or administering necessary documentation such as production sheets, schedule, monthly SAFE cards, accident/near miss/hazard reporting and process control sheets.
  • Performing other job-related duties as required or assigned.
