About The Position

The Printer Operator is responsible for the setup, adjustment, and maintenance of coater decorator and related equipment. This role involves understanding and complying with safety SOPs and work instructions, analyzing and resolving mechanical or operational troubles, performing equipment changeovers, checking product quality, replacing parts, and maintaining equipment through cleaning and lubrication. The operator will also manage supplies, test product specifications, perform preventative maintenance, and report any issues to the supervisor. Additionally, the role requires operating equipment and assisting as directed.

Requirements

• Familiar with Personal Protective Equipment
• Mechanically inclined, familiar with hand tools
• Familiar with proper handling of chemicals/solvents.
• Basic dry/offset printing skills/knowledge.
• Ability to troubleshoot litho/printing press issues
• Detail-oriented
• High School Diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

• Previous printing experience preferred.
• Prior experience in a fast-paced manufacturing facility

Responsibilities

• Understands and complies with position related safety SOPs and work instructions, especially for Lockout/Tagout, Chemical Handling, Machine Guarding, Housekeeping, SQF, and Personal Protective Equipment.
• Checks machines and analyzes types of mechanical or operational troubles, planning and taking corrective action to maintain quality.
• Makes changeovers or conversions by setting up assigned equipment for changes in material, size, or product.
• Checks, tests, and measures product for quality specifications, examining for visual defects.
• Replaces worn or damaged parts and retimes machine action.
• Operates, repairs, cleans, and lubricates equipment as required to maintain production.
• Clears jams.
• Checks varnishes, coatings, inks, lubricants, and supplies, and adds or changes materials.
• Requests or obtains additional quantities of supplies.
• Examines, tests, and measures product from assigned equipment for quality specifications using appropriate gauges and instruments and records data.
• Performs Preventative Maintenance inspection of assigned equipment, reports findings and takes appropriate action.
• Notifies supervisor of any incidences of recurring equipment malfunctions and corrective action taken, and of any poor-quality material or supplies noted.
• Operates equipment and assists as directed.
