About The Position

VIZ Media, the world leader in English-language versions of manga and anime (Japanese comics and animation), is looking for a temporary Print Designer to support our Creative department for a period of 3 months. The Creative team is responsible for the overall visual presentation of VIZ Media graphic novels, trade books, Blu-ray packaging, promotional and convention materials, and other such products. The Print Designer will be responsible for creating and designing a variety of artwork for VIZ Media products.

Requirements

Proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, and Acrobat).
Strong creative aesthetic sense and attention to detail a MUST.
Ability to multi-task, organize time, prioritize work, and meet deadlines.
Proven ability to communicate and successfully interact with other departments and outside vendors to meet deadlines and maintain high quality.
Knowledge of effective design strategies, particularly as applicable to the publishing, print media, and/or entertainment industries.
Willingness to work with content that may include sexually explicit images, nudity, and graphic violence.

Responsibilities

Conceptualize and generate creative designs for the covers and interior design of graphic novels, trade books, Blu-ray packaging, and potentially other VIZ Media print and digital promotional materials.
Work with the Art Director and Senior Designers to help continue strategic and unified approaches for VIZ products, while keeping on track with project status and deadlines.
Ensure that the design direction fulfills VIZ Media’s high standards in both concept and execution and recommend solutions to the main stakeholders of the project for potential improvements in aesthetic and design strategy.
Willingly engage with feedback, generate creative solutions, and communicate with various departments to problem solve or address any concerns that may arise with the design and its execution.
Perform other duties as necessary.
