About The Position

Exponent is seeking a Principal for its Thermal Sciences Practice in Natick, MA. This role involves applying advanced economic, financial, and technical expertise to real-world challenges in energy markets, including investment strategy, asset valuation, regulatory analysis, and generation and transmission development. The Principal will be responsible for cultivating client relationships, identifying new business opportunities, leading teams in advanced analyses, and contributing to the growth of the Thermal Sciences Practice. The position requires a strong understanding of energy markets and the ability to communicate complex technical conclusions to diverse audiences.

Requirements

  • M.S. Degree in Energy, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field
  • 10+ years of relevant consulting experience in energy economics
  • Prior experience testifying as an expert witness is required
  • Significant demonstrated experience generating business and managing client relationships
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills
  • Ability to gather information from, and convey technical conclusions to, individuals in engineering, the legal profession, business and industry
  • Presently legally authorized to work in the United States. No immigration sponsorship or processing required.

Responsibilities

  • Leading complex engagements related to energy market economics, asset valuation, regulatory and dispute matters, investment strategy, and expert testimony
  • Identifying and pursuing business development opportunities
  • Managing multidisciplinary teams and collaborating with experts in other technical disciplines
  • Project management and building client relationships
  • Performing economic calculations and analyses
  • Preparing written reports, proposals, and presentations
  • Domestic and international travel will likely be required
  • Most assignments will require the ability to gather information from, and convey technical conclusions to, individuals in engineering, the legal profession, business and industry
