About The Position

NVIDIA is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Principal Systems Engineer specializing in datacenter interconnects and fabric health. The role will lead root cause analysis and resolution of complex issues across server and data center platforms, involving electrical, mechanical, thermal, and firmware components. It requires a multidisciplinary approach to system-level problem-solving in a dynamic, collaborative environment. The engineer will lead cross-functional debugging of system-level issues, focusing on high-speed interconnects and fabrics, and investigate failures found during validation, production, or in-field operation. The role also involves developing tests, experiments, tools, scripts, and automation to accelerate debugging; guiding teams; documenting findings and mitigation plans; and driving corrective and preventive actions with suppliers and internal teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 15+ years of experience in system-level debugging in data center/server or similar hardware platforms.
  • Deep understanding of system architecture, including CPUs, memory, high-speed I/Os, power delivery, thermal management, and firmware.
  • Proven experience debugging electrical issues such as signal integrity and power integrity; thermal issues such as airflow and cooling design; and firmware anomalies such as BIOS/UEFI and BMC.
  • Proficiency with tools such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and firmware debugging equipment or utilities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work across disciplines and teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with contract manufacturers and suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional debugging of critical system-level issues across hardware and firmware, focusing on high-speed interconnects and fabrics.
  • Perform hands-on root cause analysis of failures observed during system validation, production, or in-field operation.
  • Collaborate with electrical, mechanical, thermal, firmware, and manufacturing teams to develop and validate fixes.
  • Develop and implement detailed tests and experiments to identify and recreate intricate issues.
  • Develop tools, scripts, and automation to accelerate debugging workflows.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentoring to cross-functional teams.
  • Document debugging procedures, findings, and mitigation plans clearly and concisely.
  • Drive corrective and preventive action processes with suppliers and internal teams.
